The church has a calling to move in the supernatural power of God. The apostles bore witness to the resurrection of Jesus with great power, and as a result, great grace was upon them. (Acts 4:33,) This grace is not just for a select few but for the entire church. God desires that every believer operates in the supernatural—performing miracles, healing, prophesying, and sharing words of knowledge and wisdom. This is not about personal validation or fame but about reflecting Jesus and creating followers of Him, not ourselves.
The supernatural is part of the DNA of this house, and God is calling us to a higher level of operation in His power. This involves a lifestyle of intimacy with God rooted in His word and a commitment to His purposes. As we respond to His call, we will see His glory manifest in unprecedented ways.
These following disciplines help us align with God’s will and move effectively in His power:
- Cultivating God’s Presence: Acknowledge God’s presence in your daily life, repent quickly, and engage in practices that invite the Holy Spirit, such as prayer, worship, and meditating on the Word. This creates an environment conducive to His power manifesting through you.
- Growing in Faith: True supernatural faith flows from the spirit and affects the mind. It requires a deep relationship with God and constant renewal of the mind through His Word. Faith defies logic and is essential for experiencing the supernatural.
- Putting Faith into Action: Faith without works is dead. To see the supernatural, we must act on our faith by praying for the sick and stepping out in boldness. Even if immediate results are not visible, God’s love and power flow through our obedience.
- Pursuing Spiritual Gifts: Earnestly desire and pursue spiritual gifts. Study them, pray for them, and observe those who operate in them. Spiritual gifts are not for personal gain but to manifest God’s glory and serve others.
- Practice prayer and fasting. They help to release God’s faith within us Matthew 17:14-21 gives an account of the healing of an epileptic boy. The disciples couldn’t cure him, but Jesus did. When Jesus was asked why the disciples had no success, He said it was because of their unbelief. It wasn’t a question of God’s will. Nor did Jesus focus on the boy’s faith. It was the level of faith in the disciples’ hearts. and then He said, “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (v. 21).
- Learn to hear God’s voice. To operate in the supernatural, we must develop a sensitivity to the person of the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t work the same way all the time, and we need to hear His direction for each situation. If you want to develop your spiritual eyes and ears, you must put yourself in a place where you can see and hear God. This will often require you to pull away into a “deserted place” so you can place all your heart and mind on Him.
- Associate with the anointing. Find people that are carrying God and get around them. We learn from one another and receive the impartation of power through association. These corporate encounters with God do not replace your place of private prayer. They simply add to and enhance your relationship with God. Anointed fellowship is crucial to cultivating the anointing in your life. Associate with God’s power by hanging out where He is.
- Motivated by Love: Love must be the foundation of all our actions. It is the greatest manifestation of God’s power and the driving force behind our faith. Understanding and experiencing God’s love compels us to share it with the world.
